Broadway Here We Come!

We are taking a trip to New York City, the Big Apple, home of the Great White Way, (also known as Broadway)! There are many things to see and do. As well as checking out the Rangers and the Knicks, you are going to see a Broadway show. To make sure that your trip is a success, you have to do a little advance planning. Each person will have a job to do to prepare for our trip.

Procedures:

Your group will be assigned a Broadway show. Each member of your team will be assigned a job.  The job descriptions and assignments are below. Each job has a notes template to help with completion of the task.  After completing your research your group will make a PowerPoint Presentation to share the knowledge you gained about the musical.

The Ticket Master:

The Ticket Master will buy the show tickets and make the hotel reservation (Choose which night you will attend)

  • Address of the theater

  • Exact seating location (use a seating chart)

  • Total cost of tickets

  • Name and address of hotel in area (Theater District)

  • Grand total of tickets and hotel

Use the Ticket Master Notes Template to help you organize your notes.

The Composer

The Composer will research the show.

  • Who wrote it? (Look for music and lyrics.)

  • Find out when and where the show opened, and how long it has been playing.

  • List the main characters and give a brief summary of the plot. (Something like you would find on the back of a video).

  • List 3 or 4 of the main songs featured in the show.

Use the Composer Notes Template to help you organize your notes.

The Critic

The Critic will review the show and buy souvenirs.

  • What did the critics think of the show?

  • Did it win any awards?  If so, which awards, and what year?

  • Also, you will want some souvenirs to take home. Check out the merchandise available and pick out some thing for each person in your group. Don’t forget to total up the cost.

Use the Critic Notes Template to help you organize your notes.
